Fading

Welcome to the Small Side Gallery, my space for posting small paintings designed especially for little places.

(Don’t forget to check out the “Little Things” at the bottom of this post!)

I’ve recently hooked up with a site called “Daily Paintworks”.  Daily Paintworks is a site where artists can post paintings for sale. The paintings are normally small and are some of the best quality around!!  To see some of the little paintings I’ve posted there……. click here!  If in the process of visiting my new DPW gallery you discover something you like, you can purchase the piece through DPW (through Pay Pal) or you can contact me through this site directly. I’ve reduced all prices on my DPW for the Christmas season and the shipping is free.

6×8   “Fading”

There’s something about a dirt road that stirs the muse in me. I suspect it has to do with growing up in small town Colorado.

My friend Freddy and I,  followed by a couple of hounds dogs, skinny dipped the irrigation ditches, roamed the prairies and walked the back roads nearly every day in summer. We were thin and stringy and hungry most of the time but this is where we got our real education. Among other things we learned not to trespass if  it would cause us grief, we learned free enterprise picking up soda bottles and turning them back for the deposit and we learned the preachers kid was tougher than he looked. More importantly we learned those country roads always led some where.

That was a long time ago but the muse hasn’t let me forget. It’s still hard to pass on a bit of exploration down a dusty old road. And it’s harder still to not set up my easel and bring some of it home with me. But I don’t fight it too hard.

Later!!

Below is the “Little Thing” for today. A haiku of sorts:

We’re both fading,

is the sun worn out  like me?

this road leads home
